VISUAL PICADY 4 (INTERNATIONAL) USER GUIDE

Visual PICADY 4 (International) is a special version of PICADY 4 for use in countries where people drive on the right (i.e. right-hand-side driving). Visual PICADY 4 (Priority Intersection CApacity and DelaY) is a computer program for predicting capacities, queue lengths and delays (both queueing and geometric) at non-signalised major/minor junctions. It can also be used to predict accident indices at both urban and rural junctions from information about traffic flow and site data. The program is used as a tool by junction design engineers to help them to assess their designs. PICADY 4 is the most recent evolution of the PICADY program, and is the first Windows version of the application. The PICADY 4 user guide describes all of the features this new version of the program has to offer including new urban accident indices prediction and new graphical interface features such as automatic backup, queue animation, graphical-assisted data entry, and a comprehensive context-sensitive help system. The user guide describes, in separate chapters, the theory and research incorporated in PICADY, how a PICADY model should be specified and the way data is entered using its graphical user interface (including guidance on how to measure data). Also described is the output and how it should be interpreted. A number of examples have been included to aid the understanding of the different junction types and the modelling problems they pose.
