DESIGN OF STRUCTURES LOADED BY FROST HEAVE OR BY FROST PRESSURE
Although various judicious theories have been proposed recently about the nature of the frost heaves and about the development of the frost pressures acting on the structures, none of them is of practical help for the designers that are faced with this kind of phenomena due to natural and artificial ground freezing. Still waiting for more adequate theoretical approaches, the aim of this paper is to suggest a pragmatic way to perform designs in the presence of potential heaves and their resulting frost pressures developments.
