DRIVER'S ENHANCED VISION SYSTEM (DEVS)
This document reports on the Driver's Enhanced Vision System (DEVS) program, designed to improve the response times of Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) services during periods of poor visibility. The study identifies the advanced technologies available, evaluates systems, and defines requirements for the necessary equipment. DEVS is composed of three subsystems: night vision (using an infrared camera and monitor), navigation (using a differential GPS receiver and moving map display), and tracking (a digital radio datalink between the command center and the vehicle).
