CALIBRATION OF HOT FILMS FOR SKIN FRICTION MEASUREMENT
An asymptotic solution for small Reynolds number of the Navier-Stokes equations for the flow between a rotating disk and a stationary plate has been used as the basis for the calibration of hot film skin friction gages. The present method requires only a small inexpensive apparatus and the measurement of the distance between the sensor and the axis of the rotating plate and the angular velocity of the rotating plate. Apparatus for calibrating hot films for skin friction measurement is shown.
