URBAN TRANSPORT PLANNING AND ENERGY: A REVIEW

This paper examines the way in which policy making and planning for urban transport are affected by the previously neglected relationship of transport and energy. It is centrally concerned with appraising the existing methodology in the light of energy considerations. There are four main sections:- section 2 examines in general terms the transport-energy relationship, section 3 outlines the methodology normally used in urban transport policy-making at present, and a critique of this is given in section 4. Some conclusions are presented in the final section. /TRRL/
