THE EUROPEAN RESEARCH PROGRAMME ON MOBILITY AND TELEMATICS

The focus of this paper is to summarize the objectives and results of the major European research programs dealing with telematics as applied to solving mobility problems. Under the EUREKA Program, the PROMETHEUS program and its various Common European Demonstrators (CED) are described. Other EUREKA programs include CARMINAT, EUROPOLIS ERTIS, LOGIMAX, and TRANSPOLIS. Under the European Community Programs, DRIVE, ATT Program-DRIVE II, and THERMIE are described. The National program ARENA (formerly Test Side West Sweden) and its components are described. The paper concludes with a discussion of ERTICO and its goals and objectives.
