Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia is experiencing an unprecedented growth due to the country's rapid economic development over the past decade. Kuala Lumpur is still expected to remain at the forefront of economic development even with the current national economic turmoil. This economic growth has its benefits as well as costs. Increasing income, urbanization, greater consumer choice, industrialization, expanded infrastructural development and a higher standard of living are on the plus side of the equation. Uneven development, rural-urban migration, pollution, community severance and traffic congestion are some of the negative consequences.
