THE STANDARD TRANSPORTATION DEMAND MODEL
This will describe the Standard Transportation Model (STM) and enumerate its major components. It will subjectively assess the model, as currently implemented, for accuracy. It will address recent and prospective improvements in modeling practice and accuracy. Finally, it will briefly touch upon the use and influence of the model in policy making. The STM is frequently referred to as a 4 step model; the steps being Trip Generation, Trip Distribution, Mode Split and Trip Assignment.
