STRESS DISTRIBUTION AND CRACKING BEHAVIOR AT ANCHORAGE ZONES IN PRESTRESSED CONCRETE MEMBERS. DISCUSSION
A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by B.H. Oh, D.H. Lim, and S.S. Park, published in this journal (Volume 94, Number 5, September-October 1997), is presented. The discussers offer a few comments and clarifications to the paper and, at the same time, provide some background information on the new anchorage zone specifications adopted by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for inclusion in the U.S. Standard Bridge Specifications. The specifications divide the tendon anchorage zone into a local and general anchorage zone, and should lead to correctly designed and reinforced tendon anchorage zones.
