DISCUSSION ON THE INFLUENCE OF PAVING OPERATION ON THE EVENNESS OF BITUMINOUS PAVEMENTS

Paving operation in pavement construction influences greatly the overall quality of pavements. Combined with construction experiences of widening engineering on Nanchang-Jiujiang expressway (in China), according to the floating paving work principle of pavers, the following factors in paving operation influencing the evenness of bituminous pavements are discussed as: paving speed, mixture feeding, underlying bearing layers, datum line, the tamping frequency of the tamping hammer, and the vibration frequency of the ironing screed.
