APPLICATION OF STEEL FIBER REINFORCED CONCRETE (SFRC) IN EXPRESSWAY RECONSTRUCTION
Steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) has a high bending strength. The thickness of the pavement slab may be thinner by using SFRC in structural design of pavement. In expressway reconstruction, the SFRC pavement structure is usually used in the road section where ground elevation is limited to assure alignment with technical standards for the highway. In this paper, an empirical design of thickness of SFRC slab, technical requirement of mixture and mix design, SFRC construction workmanship and quality control is presented in order to make SFRC applicable in the reconstruction of expressway.
