SHELLING TECHNIQUE FOR PAVEMENT HIGH QUALITY CONCRETE MIXTURE

Cement concrete mixture is a base material for rigid pavement. The conventional mixing process is to mix sand, stone, cement and water simultaneously. By adopting the shelling mixing method in which mixing is carried out in several steps, the surface of sand and stone is packed by cement paste as an outer shell, in this way the dispersiveness of cement can be improved, and the quality and durability of concrete significantly enhanced. The shelling technique (fractionated mixing) is described. It has been proved that the shelling technique of packing sand and stone can increase strength of concrete by 10-20%, and reduce cement consumption by 5-10%. The technique is simple and practicable.
