STUDY ON HEAVY AXLE LOAD CONVERSION METHODS IN PAVEMENT DESIGN

In-situ axle load measurement is carried out by using HDS-II movable axle-meter in this paper, reliable actual distribution of vehicle axle loads and accurate data of overloads are gained thereby. Based on the analysis and study of both the axle load conversion relationship in current specifications and its application range, the fatigue test of high stress ratio cement concrete is conducted by using MTS-850 universal material tester; from this a fatigue equation under a high stress ratio and an axle load conversion formula of cement concrete pavements are achieved. The deflections and bending tensile stesses of bituminous pavements under heavy axle loads are analyzed by using linear and non-linear analysis methods, the equivalent axle load conversion methods of deflections and bending tension stress in that case are gained. The rutting tests under routine loads and heavy loads are performed by means of the rutting apparatus made in Japan, the relationship between dynamic stability and axle loads is gained.
