HEALTH ORIENTED TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM PLAN
A plan for implementing health-oriented transportation services is offered as a remedy for transportation problems in the Tulsa, Oklahoma tricounty area and as a model for making outpatient health services accessible to persons in all metropolitan areas. A survey of outpatients and interviews with staff personnel of outpatient clinics provided the basis for identification of health-oriented transportation problems, which are summarized by geographic area. The plan for the Tulsa metropolitan area is expressed as three goals which apply to the area as a whole and to each of its parts. Numerous objectives are suggested as steps towards attaining these goals. A technical report describes the development and analysis of data supporting recommended proposals concerning a health-oriented transportation system for the Tulsa metropolitan area. Existing health services and transportation problems are specified, and the characteristics of the population and its demand for health-oriented transportation services are analyzed. Appendices provide a sample of the survey form and describe the demonstration efforts related to the plan. A bibliography is included.
