Forest products is a major industry in the Pacific Northwest and as such generates large volumes of cargo for the ports of the region. The principal commodities handled by some ports are almost entirely forest products, consisting principally of lumber, logs, and wood chips. The analysis of forest products is separated from the other commodities handled in domestic and foreign trade, and projections of their future movements estimated independently.
