THE ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION OF TRANSPORT PLANS

Following a summary of the contents of the report in chapter 1, the context for the evaluation of transport plans is in chapter 2. The functions and limitations of the report and the effects considered are briefly described. Chapter 3 is a general outline of the procedure - the nature of the prediction processes and the methods of evaluation. The environmental factors considered: noise, visual effects, severance, pedestrians, and land acquisition are treated in chapters 4-8. A review of the factors and aspects which are omitted for want of relevant knowledge follows in chapter 9, and the recommended forms of presentation for the data generated by the prediction processes are described in chapter 10. Disaggregated data is discussed in chapter 11 and data aggregated using weights is treated in chapter 12. The problems of evaluation are considered in chapter 13, and an extensive bibliography is included. /TRRL/
