SAFETY DEVICE FOR VEHICLES
This patent relates to safety devices for vehicles, and particularly to a device for the protection of a pedestrian struck by the vehicle. The device described mainly comprises: a barrier member operable by a motor to move the barrier between a stowed and an operative position, and a sensor responsive to the collision of a body with the vehicle and which activates the motor. When in its operative position the member forms a barrier around an upward facing surface, thus restraining a body on such a surface from falling off it. /TRRL/
