THE PHENOLIC DISC BRAKE PISTON
Molded phenolic disc brake pistons were released as an alternate to the chrome plated steel piston on 1975 Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, and Imperials. This unique use of a non-metallic thermoset material is the result of a joint Chrysler/Burez material and design development program. The combined efforts of the material supplier, molder and end user made it possible to screen and formulate a material, establish a design, and select a process that would produce pistons to meet disc brake functional requirements.
