GASOLINE CONSUMPTION MODEL. VOLUME I. FINAL REPORT
This report presents an on-line time-sharing model of the automobile sector of the economy. The model was designed to provide medium (3-5 years) and long term (through 1990) projections of gasoline consumption by passenger cars. Emphasis was placed on a model structure which could reflect the potential impact of alternative government policies regarding fuel economy, emissions and safety. This report contains an overview of the logic of the model; a test of the model's predictive capability; a description of the capabilities of the model including types of outputs generated and types of policy options which could be evaluated; and a comprehensive description of the three major segments of the model: technology, economic-behavioral relationships, and emissions.
