PREDICTIONS OF SELF-INTERFERENCE IN THE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL RADAR BEACON SYSTEM
Recently interest has been renewed on the likely effects of universal transponder equipage on the Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System. A review of several studies shows that the impact on asynchronous fruit and reply probability are under control so long as planned improvements (especially new interrogator antennas) are undertaken. A more serious impact is expected to be encountered with synchronous garble.
