GENERAL INFORMATION FOR GRAIN LOADING
This 1976 Edition provides guidance to shipowners, operators, agents, masters and others for compliance with the various national and international regulations relative to the stowage and carriage of bulk grain. The 1976 Edition is totally revised and supersedes all previous editions. It includes the amended U. S. Coast Guard Grain Regulations, implemented for United States Flag Vessels on 19 September 1975 (Federal Register, Vol. 40, No. 162), which incorporate IMCO Resolution A.264 (VIII). This resolution is the culmination of more than ten years' research and experimentation, by members of the IMCO Subcommittee on Containers and Cargoes, in which both the Coast Guard and National Cargo Bureau representatives played large and important roles. In addition to general information pertaining to preparation, stability and stowage, the booklet also includes details of the procedures to be followed in order that the acceptance of all vessels to load at, and sail from, United States ports can be carried out expeditiously. Subject to the conditions set forth in Navigation and Vessel Inspection Circular No. NVC 1-76, the U. S. Coast Guard endorses this publication.
