ENERGY AND THE AUTOMOBILE

This report is concerned with possible changes in automotive technology and the importance of these new methods for the future demand for energy. In Canada, most of the transportation technology is imported from Japan, U.S. and Europe. Events beyond our bordrs must be considered in any evaluation of the evolution of technology to be used on Canadian roadways. The questions of the importance of the emission control, the effect new engines and new fuels on Canadaian petroleum reserves and public policy options in the conservation of fuel are reviewed.
