ANALYSIS OF THE DIAGNOSIS, REFERRAL AND REHABILITATION SYSTEM. FIFTH AND SIXTH ANALYSIS STUDIES--1976

This analytical study describes the diagnosis, referral and follow-up activities of the Hennepin County Alcohol Safety Action Project staff during the period 1972 through 1974, and of regular court probation staff during 1975. The ASAP presentence investigation process consists of the collection of legal and social history data, an interview with the client and contact with collaterals. The interview concentrates on determining the impact of drinking upon the client's health, job, family and personality as well as determining the purpose of the client's drinking. The following topics are reviewed: Analytis of ASAP referral activity; analysis of recidivism rates; analysis of knowledge levels of DWI course participants and the relationship of knowledge test performance to post coruse traffic convictions; analysis of ASAP diagnostic procedures and classifications; impact of the project's efforts on the court and rehabilitation systems.
