THE HIGH SPEED GROUND TRANSPORTATION ACT OF 1965. 2ND REPORT

The report complies with Section 10 (a) of the High Speed Ground Transportation Act of 1965 as amended by the Department of Transportation Act of October 15, 1966, requiring the Secretary of Transportation to report to the President and the Congress, not less often than annually, with respect to activities carried out under the Act. The first report covered the fiscal year ending June 1966 and was submitted in September 1966. The three basic activities authorized by the Act are: Research and development in high speed ground transportation; Demonstration projects to determine the contributions that high speed ground transportation could make to more efficient and economical intercity transportation systems; A national program to improve the scope and availability of transportation statistics.
