CHARTWORK FOR FISHERMEN AND BOAT OPERATORS - MARINE BULLETIN NO. 7

This publication is divided into fifteen sections covering the following subjects: (1) chart types and the care of charts, (2) definitions for position fixing and principal methods, (3) chart symbols, abbrevations and chart construction, (4) distance, (5) the running fix, (6) earth and ship's magnetism, (7) the compass, (8) types of chart projections, (9) practical chart work, (10) wind, tidal theories, definitions and compensation for steering, (11) the marine sextant - its use and adjustment, (12) visibility of lights, (13) estimating position from soundings, (14) bearing problems, (15) the sailings and use of tables. A series of work exercises are provided at the end of each section. To keep the text as concise as possible, a working knowledge of logarithms, geometry and basic trigonometry has been assumed.
