SIS: THE WORLD'S BIGGEST SHIPPING DATA BANK
Lloyd's Register and Lloyd's of London established a joint shipping information service in March 1976, enabling clients to obtain from one source data gathered by both organizations. Named Lloyd's/Lloyd's Register Shipping Information Services, it is based at the LR headquaters complex where a new Data Centre was opened later in the year. Information can be supplied in the form of magnetic tapes, computer printouts or microfiche, tailored to the client's requirements. Lloyd's Register's Register Book file and the New Construction files, together with Lloyd's Voyage History file, are among the sources of data which are available through the new service.
