INTRODUCTORY CONSIDERATION OF THE MEASUREMENT OF TRAFFIC NOISE IN TOWNS
INFEIDENDE BESCHOUWINGEN OVER VERKEERSLAWAAIMETINGEN IN STEDEN
Vehicle density is, of course, the main factor which determines traffic noise levels on town streets. However, the equivalent sound levels are influenced by a series of secondary "parameters" such as: vehicle speed, ground cover, percentage of heavy vehicles, street width, etc. Each of these parameters, taken separately, has only a limited effect which can vary largely between 0 and plus or minus 5 db(a). Nevertheless if the most important of these factors is taken correctly into account, the agreement between predicted and measured sound levels can be significantly improved. /TRRL/
