NEW HORIZONS FOR CONTAINER MANUFACTURERS
The spread of containerisation to new areas of the world has created a demand for boxes in areas where there is often a trade imbalance in favour of exports. The high costs of positioning empties in these areas has led to the establishment of indigenous container manufacturers in several key areas ostensibly to service local demand, though in the longer term the advantages enjoyed by these new manufacturers could see them pose a serious challenge to the current dominance of manufacturers in the more traditional container manufacturing areas. A list of the countries and names of the container manufacturers is included as well as a reader service for obtaining additional information from, the manufacturers.
