GREAT BRITAIN NON-FUEL PORT TRAFFIC BY SHIP AND BERTH MODE WITH FORECASTS FOR 1980 AND 1985
This issue of the Bulletin is devoted to a study of port traffic in Great Britain recently completed by the staff of the economics and Statistics Division of the National Ports Council. It is part of the continuing work of the Council's staff to keep under review developments in the port transport industry in order to support the advance of the Council to the Secretary of State for Transport on port matters. In 1976, the Council published "UK International Trade, 1980-1985" in which were set out forecasts of imports and exports by commodity group and by overseas origin and destination measured in tonnes. These commodity and trade forecasts have now been converted into forecasts of traffic by shipping route, and ship and berth modes. This issue of the Bulletin contains the resulting forecasts together with full explanations of the statistics and assumptions used and the relevant historical statistics for comparison.
