PROBLEM OF HUMANIZING THE WORK AREAS FOR WELDING AND CUTTING IN SHIP BUILDING

PROBLEME DER HUMANISIERUNG VON SCHWEISS UND SCHNEIDPLAETZEN IM SCHIFFBAU

Brief outlines are given of the welding and cutting (oxygen, plasma) processes used in ship building. This is followed by enumeration of the accompanying health-endangering features such as radiation, smoke, steam, gases, electric current, noise, and cramped quarters, as well as psychological and sociological factors such as unchallenging work, strain, fear of confined spaces, and lack of social standing. Remedies are considered.
