METHODOLOGICAL EXPERIMENT IN THE USE OF A GEOTECHNICAL DATA FILE - DOCUMENTATION, MAPPING, STATISTICAL PROCESSING

ESSAI METHODOLOGIQUE D'UTILISATION D'UN FICHIER DE CONNEES GEOTECHNIQUES--DOCUMENTATION, CARTOGRAPHIE, TRAITEMENTS STATISTIQUES.

The geotechnical data file for the town of Rouen has been put to many uses. The first results obtained in the three following fields are presented: 1 localized data on a small zone: the data search with the computer makes it possible to quickly retrieve all interesting information and to insert it in reports in the form of tables and plans. The flexibility with which the searches are conducted enables the user to carry out his searches as a function of the results obtained. 2 mapping on the scale of the town: the use of a file enables the selected information to be plotted on a plan (level and nature of the substratum). Additional data are obtained by means of profiles between exploratory boring operations. The file is a data storage tool for the geologist, who interprets the profiles and draws the maps manually. 3 study of a given geological formation: the albian with the help of distribution analyses and correlation and regression analyses, it is possible to summarize the data on a formation with a view a to obtaining a better knowledge of this formation and to controlling the lithostratigraphic interpretations, b to forecasting some results with regression analysis. /TRRL/
