TOWARDS TRAFFIC SIGNS AND SIGNALS BASED ON HOLOGRAPHY

VERS UNE SIGNALISATION ROUTIERE PAR HOLOGRAPHIE

This short note describes the beginning of studies carried out to examine the possibility of applying holography to some problems of highway signalization. The progress report on these studies was presented on the 25th June 1976. Emphasis is laid on the fact that, thanks to holography, it is possible to reconstruct images of several signals not on a support of the practical signalization type but at variable distances between the observer and the holograph. Mention is made of a future study of sending a specific message to a queue of vehicles, the message sent would only be received by that particular file of vehicles because of the way the system works. /TRRL/
