THE DUNLIN "A" TOW-OUT

Describes the towing of large structures at sea, which has become almost commonplace since North Sea oil began to be exploited, but these operations only succeed because of the meticulous planning which goes on long before the tow even starts. Dunlin "A" platform, 420,000 tons of concrete, steel and ballast, was larger than many of the existing platforms and the towing draught of 130 m created new problems.
