SOME EFFECTS OF DYNAMIC SOIL PROPERTIES ON SOIL-STRUCTURE INTERACTION-CLOSURE
A closure on the discussion of the authors' paper is presented. It is noted that for evaluating dynamic behavior of soils it is necessary to consider both small and large amplitude shearing strains, and it is important to keep in mind the order of magnitude involved. The author in his original paper, emphasized the importance of studies which described the shearing stress-strain behavior of the soil ranging from the small strain "elastic" behavior to failure. The importance of relating laboratory and field results for shear modulus at low shearing strain amplitudes is emphasized. Laboratory data permits the evaluation of changes in shear modulus and damplingat increased strain levels.
