COMPOSITE FOOTBRIDGES FOR PEDESTRIANS
PASARELAS MIXTAS PARA PEATONES
The authors describe a type of bridge for pedestrians crossing a motorway or a railway, with spans between 10 and 25 M. It consists of a composite section: the compression flange is a concrete slab, lightly reinforced, underneath an open box girder made of steel sheets. Based on this typical section, three standardized sections have been developed which depend on the spans, the thickness of the slab being the only factor which varies. The transport does not pose a problem and the erection does not take more than one hour. The access ramps are constructed of standard units. /TRRL/
