UNDERWATER CONCRETE. SURVEY OF LITERATURE

UNDERVATTENSBETONG. LITTERATURINVENTERING

The preparatory stage of the research project on "underwater concrete" was to draw up a programme, which in its turn was to embrace a study of available literature. This is a summary of the literature studied. In respect of underwater concreting, i.e. the procedure, recommendations and the investigations performed to date, the report includes a list of relevant literature, a synopsis and a tabulated summary of the most important data from the majority of the articles. As regards the workability and consistency of concrete, the report contains a list of literature only. All articles emphasize that the properties of the concrete compound, such as its plasticity, cohesion and stability, are of the utmost importance for the concrete pouring process. It is also consistently stressed that the pouring should be carried out without interruption, or ar least with very short interruptions. Opinions regarding factors such as cement content, max. Stone size, consistency, pipe diameter, pipe spacing, concrete rising rate, additives etc., vary very widely. /TRRL/
