NAVIGATION IN CHANNELS OF LIMITED CROSS-SECTION
RECHERCHES SUR LA NAVIGATION EN SECTIONS LIMITEES
To study in detail the behavior of boats, ships and push tows in channels of limited cross-sections with the small values of the ratio of the cross sectional areas of the channel and the ship, a research program was started by the Hydraulics Division of the National Belgian Centre of Civil Engineering Research. Special application was made to the Albert canal, which connects the industrial region near Liege to the port of Antwerp. Experimental results are analyzed by using basic equations and similitude requirements.
