RECONCILING THE COMMERCIAL PRESSURE ON A SHIP'S MASTER WITH OPERATIONAL SAFETY
The Maritime industry safety structure from vessel design to vessel operation is shown, and also the structure of the main pressure sources that may infleunce a master's decision-making process. Any system that endeavours to increase the master's involvement in the operating costs should pay due regard to the safety aspect.
