NUMERICAL VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF THE DECKHOUSE OF A FAR EAST CONTAINERSHIP
The Author, of the Institute TNO for Mechanical Constructions, presents a numerical analysis of the lower natural frequencies and corresponding vibration modes for the deckhouse of a 287-m (length o.a.) 27-knot Nedlloyed container-ship of 2 X 40,400 shp. The deckhouse structure, represented by a simple model, was assumed to be fixed to a rigid support. The appropriate stiffness and mass matrices for the ship were available and to investigate the usefulness of a comprehensive vibration analysis coupling the deckhouse with the main ship-structure, an additional test-case with modified deckhouse support conditions was evaluated. The results are presented and several conclusions are drawn.
