LAMELLA GRAVITY SETTLERS RECLAIM WASH WATER AT CALIFORNIA AGGREGATE PLANT

A study of the rainfall history of California indicated that there was a good possibility of a future water shortage. The lack of space for large settling basins and certain local environmental considerations deemed it necessary to use a prudent approach to the recycling of wash water. Therefore, the company installed two Lamella gravity settlers (manufactured by the Parkson Corporation). In this unit, solids settle out on inclined plates in a tank. Clarified effluent exits at the top of the tank. Solids slide down into a sludge hopper and are thickened via a vibrator before being pumped away.
