ON THE TREATMENT OF VISCOUS EFFECTS IN THE ANALYSIS OF OCEAN PLATFORMS
The forces acting on an ocean platform are briefly reviewed. A fixed platform is first considered, the viscous forces are computed in a sample calculation following the presentation of the calculation method. The bulk of the report is devoted to the forces acting on a moving platform, and it deals with computation of damping coefficients, and iterative determination of platform motions. Sample calculation and comparison with model experiments are given.
