MANUFACTURER/CONSUMER RELATIONSHIPS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. PARTS 1 AND 2

The paper is in two sections, in the first part an equipment manufacturer gives his opinions on the reluctance with which shipowners purchase new and badly needed equipment. To illustrate his point, he quotes the experience with Kapok lifebuoys, found to be largely deficient. The second part of the paper is given by a sea captain, who summarizes the most important qualifications of any new equipment and the way it should be introduced to the potential users.
