A study was made comparing the results of the knowledge portion of a DWI mini-course for 25 New York City policemen and 20 New York City high school students who had taken the test previously. The average scores for both groups were close, indicating little difference in knowledge for the police (i.e., educated adults) and the students. The author sees this as an indication of a serious deficiency in knowledge of "alcohol safety," saying "If we assume that knowledge changes attitudes and ultimately behavior, then there remains a lot to be done."
