DENSE NATURAL AGGREGATES. METRIC UNITS

This specification applies to naturally occurring sand, gravel and stone, crushed and uncrushed, having a bulk density on a dry basis not less than 2300 kg/cubic metre, and intended for use as aggregate in the production of concrete, including precast products. It includes tests applicable in the investigation of a proposed new quarry or pit for aggregate, as well as to products of an established source of supply. It gives definitions and details of sampling, requirements, bulk density, unit mass, water absorption, stability, soundness, material finer than 75 microns, deleterious materials, physical properties, particle shape, grading, description, tests and statement of compliance. Appendices gives (1) terminology and petrological classification, and (2) a simplified group classification for aggregates. /TRRL/
