A FURTHER PROCEDURE FOR ESTIMATING SPEED DISTRIBUTION PARAMETERS IN UNI-DIRECTIONAL TRAFFIC STREAMS USING THE MOVING OBSERVER METHOD
Methods of deriving the space mean speed and amount of traffic in uni-directional streams using the moving observer technique have been described elsewhere. This paper explains a mathematically exact method of obtaining the standard deviation of the speeds. It should replace the empirical solutions recently proposed by several authors. /Author/TRRL/
