VERKEERSKUNDIG STUDIECENTRUM MEMORANDUM 1976

There are three kinds of traffic concerned with work and home. These are: traffic from one house to another (social contacts), traffic from home to work and traffic from one workplace to another. Almost half of all traffic is made up of home to work journeys and if it were possible to influence the pattern of these journeys, all traffic in urban areas would be affected. Some subjective aspects which play a role in choice of transport mode, in particular the mental attitude, are discussed. The influencing of mental attitude by measures which directly affect costs and the accessibility of the journey destination have the greatest chance of success, provided no control equipment is needed. /TRRL/
