TANGENTS METHOD FOR ROAD PICTURE CONSTRUCTION
The author has endeavoured to introduce the tangents method of road picture construction, without going into the actual drawing method details. The method is compared with other manual perspective drawing techniques and the use of computers. Advantages and some disadvantages are discussed. In the second portion of the paper several road situations are pictorially analysed leading to some suggestions on good design practice for ramp exit design and in the cases of minor displacements in horizontal alignments. Perspective road pictures are widely used during the road design process. They must be available as soon as the first centre-line location is discussed, as small alterations in alignments to improve design form later are costly and should be avoided. /Author/TRRL/
