PERFORMANCE OF NEWLY CONSTRUCTED FULL-DEPTH FOAMED BITUMEN/CRUSHED ROCK PAVEMENTS
Two full-depth foamed bitumen black base pavements were constructed, with layer equivalency factors of 1.25 and 1.39 applied to reduce the conventional granular pavement design thicknesses. Stress and strain gauges were installed during construction to measure vertical, transverse and longitudinal stresses and strains during the service life of the road. The initial measurements obtained from these gauges are compared with the stresses and strains predicted by use of laboratory measured elastic parameters in the CSIRO craylay pavement analysis computer program. The results are discussed as a possible method whereby specific layer equivalency factors may be predicted for the higher bitumen content, foamed bitumen, crushed rock mixtures. (Author) /TRRL/
