A STUDY OF SOIL THRUST EXERTED BY A TRACKED VEHICLE
Authors attempt to predict the drawbar pull of tracked vehicles by using the well-known Janosi-Hanamoto shear stress-strain relation for large soil deformations and by assuming triangular ground pressure distribution under each road wheel. Experimental data are rather scanty. Reviewer misses discussion of the vertical stress-strain relations and of the slip-sinkage phenomenon, which might considerably alter the drawbar pull computed from shear forces alone. /Author/
