MEASURING INTERNAL STRESSES IN WIRES FOR PRE-STRESSED CONCRETE

MEDIDA DE LAS TENSIONES INTERNAS EN ALAMBRES PARA PRETENSADOS

A description is given of the method used for the quantitative determination of internal stresses in wires for prestressed concrete. Graphs are presented from a series of measurements made to determine the stress-distribution curve pattern peculiar to these materials and the optimum stress-relieving temperature for two steels with different nitrogen contents. On the basis of these results, the most suitable treatments are put forward with regard to internal stress and stress-relief. /TRRL/
